March 2019

During March we had the lovely Jason sing for us, who really knows how to get us all up and dancing. He will be returning for our yearly Summer Fayre on June 22nd.

We had a a lovely afternoon being taught Ballroom dancing. Strictly Come Dancing here we come!! We have such wonderful dancers amongst us.

We also had a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea, where all the Mum’s invited their relatives for coffee, cake and nibbles. We raised £108 in donations, which goes into our Residents Fund. Thank you to Mel for all the lovely cakes you made and to everyone who helped and of course to everyone who attended and generously donated into the Fund.

The Easter Bunny dropped off lots of delicious Easter Eggs for our Raffle, with a huge Lindt Chocolate Bunny as the star prize. Raffle tickets are now on sale in the Reception. The raffle will be drawn on Easter Monday.

February 2019

Although February is a short month, we packed a lot in. On Valentines Day we were entertained by Miss Vintage who sang for us in the lounge. Mel made everyone little gift bags of chocolate hearts and heart sweets. Also for Valentines, ‘Mojo Creative Art’ came in and helped us make some lovely cards and decorations for Valentines.

Also we had The Riverside Rockers sing for us which was lovely to sing along to.

Some of us went to our local community centre to join in with their monthly singing club. We sang along to Elvis, Buddy Holly and other great songs.

Finally we were treated to a dog show where we got to hold and cuddle little dogs and other dogs were performing tricks for us. Very clever dogs indeed.

January 2019

Happy New Year. We have got 2019 off with a flying start with various activities. We celebrated one of our residents 90th Birthday with a lovely party. We had entertainment by ‘Salvador’ who always knows how to get us up singing and dancing.

We braved the cold weather and went out for lunch at The Royal Oak, a local pub to us who served a lovely lunch of fish and chips, steak and kidney pudding and tomato soup, and not to mention the ever so naughty Millionaires cheesecake.

We celebrated Burns Night with a visit from a Scottish entertainer who played traditional Scottish songs - he was even brave enough to wear a quilt in this chilly weather.

A new Art Class started this month, where we enjoyed making and painting pretty butterflies. Some residents made cards for their family whilst others made butterflies for a lovely mural for the dining room.

During February a dance instructor will be visiting us to teach us Ballroom Dancing. All the dancers amongst us are really looking forward to this event.
