March/April 2023

We’ve had a busy few months getting out to our local Tuesday club enjoying singing and quizzes whilst having a brew amongst friends.

Our new manager Mel joined us in March and is settling in well, getting to know our residents and their families.

One of our Senior Carers, Lily has become Deputy Manager and is thriving in her new role.

We’ve created a new medication room with air-conditioning, ready for those hot summer months.

We also have plans to lay new flooring in the downstairs corridors, new fencing in the front garden, new patio doors and lots of other smaller upgrades. It’s going to be a busy year - but Fairby is very old and needs some attention every now and again.

We are looking forward to The Kings Coronation coming up in May along with a Boat ride on the Medway, Gay Pride month in June and lots of other events taking place.

January / February 2023

The chillier days are here but we still like to get out and about to our local club in New Ash Green every Tuesday where we sing, play board games and chat with others over coffee and biscuits.

There is a regular chap at the club who brings along his lovely Greyhound dog named Rossi. Rossi is a retired greyhound who has won many competitions over his lifetime. He now takes life at a much slower pace and enjoys being with others. Rossi and his owner will now be making regular visits to us at Fairby so we can all stroke and cuddle Rossi.

During February we said goodbye to Sacha, our Manager. Sacha has joined a Nursing Home in Bromley. We gave her a good send off and wish her well in her future career.

Our new Manager, Melanie joins on 13/03/2023 and is thoroughly looking forward to being part of our team.

We have already booked 2 trips on The Kingfisher Boat which sails along the River Medway. We will see Debbie down there who is now a Qualified Skipper for the Charity.

November / December 2022

Our decorations are up and the home is looking very festive indeed with presents under the tree ready for the big day.

We had our own Christmas party where family and friends were invited. Seems such a long time now since we have had so many people along to our parties. It was lovely to see everyone having such a good time.

We had lots of events going on during the festive period. We were lucky to be invited down to our local secondary school for their Christmas Coffee Morning. We were spoilt with cakes, biscuits and sandwiches and were waited on by some of the schools SEN children. We sang carols and did a couple of games to win some prizes. Everyone had a lovely time and we all were given some chocolates to take home with us.

Our usual Tuesday club in New Ash Green planned a Christmas event for the community. The hall was filled with Christmas decorations, music, dancing and plenty of food. Some of us got up and danced and we all got into the festive spirit and wore our silly hats.

Here’s looking forward to 2023.

Merry Christmas everyone.
