May 2018

During May, Mel and Claire took some residents on our first boat trip this year.  We started out at Wateringbury and made a lovely round trip.  We had drinks, savoury snacks and cakes on board.

Our second trip will be held in August.

We all sat in the lounge and watched the Royal Wedding then celebrated on into the afternoon with a lovely afternoon tea prepared by Mel.  Such a lovely event to watch.

Some of us ventured down the the Malta Inn Pub at Sandling, Maidstone.  We sat outside by the river and had a lovely lunch and a cheeky beer and wine, and enjoyed the lovely sun and great company.

April 2018

April is warming up nicely and we are looking forward to sitting out in the garden to catch a bit of sun.   A few brave residents have already ventured outside.

We have plans to transform the rear garden this year by extending the patio area and creating a sensory garden,  building raised flower beds, installing a potting shed and creating various seating areas.  Work will commence October 2018.  We are all very excited about this huge project.

Thank you to everyone who donated Easter Eggs and joined in the raffle.  We raised over £50, which will go into our residents fund.

The dog show was a great success.  We all spent time cuddling the tiny Chihuahua puppy 'Norman', and watched the other dogs perform tricks and one even played the piano.  Clever dogs !!

Our monthly visit from Dimples Children's Nursery is always an exciting time for us and the children too.  Six little ones come to sing and play games in our lounge and chat with us. We join in and play musical instruments with them and watch them play with balloons and skittles etc.

We will be starting our very own Choir at Fairby.  We have lots of beautiful voices amongst us that love to sing.  Andrea, one of our Care Staff is putting together some music and song sheets so that everyone can join in.  X Factor here we come.

March 2018

March has been very chilly indeed and unfortunately our visit to Longfield Academy was cancelled as most schools in Kent were closed for nearly a week.  However, we have managed to get out and about to Millbrook garden centre for coffee and cake and to Knit & Knatter just over the road from us.

We have started a morning walking club, where some residents like to walk to the local Post Office to purchase their daily newspaper.

Another exciting new event was a visit from Dimples Children's Nursery, where 6 delightful children aged 3-4 years came into the home to play games, sing and dance and play musical instruments for us.  Everyones face lit up when they came in.  We will now be holding this event every month - one not to be missed!!  See our photo / video gallery for some lovely photos.

We have been making Easter decorations for our tree and some little treat boxes - just waiting for the Easter Bunny to  fill them with chocolate eggs now. We will be holding an Easter Egg Raffle over the Easter Weekend.  Fingers crossed.....

Six residents went to a Luncheon Club at the Church Hall, where we ate a beautifully prepared 3 course lunch.  The Club were celebrating their 10th anniversary and had a whopping 53 mouths to feed.

Still to come is our Dog Show at the end of the month.
