September 2017

During September, we held our second Spa day in the Home.  All monies received went towards our Macmillan Coffee Morning on 29th September 2017, where we raised £197.54.  Thank you to those who baked delicious cakes and to those who joined us and very generously donated to this good cause.

Residents have been helping Mel prepare bunting for our next themed night - 'Cockney Night'.  Bob, one of our Chefs, will be cooking a Cockney traditional dinner of Pie, Mash and Liquor and we will be having a seafood selection during the evening.  Jellied eels, welks, cockles and mussels are on the menu.

August 2017

Summer is passing us by very quickly, but we have been having fun during August. Our Greek Night was an excellent event.  We had scrumptious Greek food, prepared by Kyveli, one of our lovely carers, and entertainment from three Belly Dancers.  The Home was packed out with residents and their relatives and we raised £129 in donations.

Some residents attend a fortnightly 'Knit & Knatter' morning, which is held at our local Library. Here we get a chance to have a cup of tea and chat with like minded crafty people whilst continuing with our knitting or any other type of craft.

Lyn from Music for Health visited us with some exhilarating music to get us all up and moving, followed by some peaceful music to relax to afterwards.

Some of us were invited to one of our Residents daughters house for afternoon tea, which was a real treat for us.  Thank you Maggie!!

Upcoming Events

1st September - Music for Health

5th September - Spa Day

7th September - Tea at the Church Hall

13th September - Boat Trip down the Medway

29th September - Macmillan coffee morning - friends and family welcome

July 2017

During July, we visited Longfield Academy School, where students held an Enterprise Day to help raise money for 'Dementia Friends'.  We were treated to coffee, tea and cakes which were served to us by the schools students.  We perused the stalls on offer and some residents purchased hand made bracelets and had a go at 'Guess the name of the Teddy'. Some brave students were singing and playing musical instruments - a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

We have been invited to the Fawkham and Hartley Church for Strawberry tea, which is very close by to us.  We will be venturing there for  a lovely afternoon.

Another new Event is 'Knit & Natter', which is held at our local library every other Friday.  Some of us will be making our way over there to see what its all about.  Our Local Community Officer, Jackie, loves getting involved with Care Homes within our area.  She has been working with us to help involve us in the Community, as there are so many weekly events taking place.

Upcoming Events

9th August - Afternoon Tea.

19th August - Greek night, hosted by Kyveli, one of our lovely carers.

22nd August - Spa Day with drinks and canapes.

28th August - Take Away Night.
