October 2016

Our Autumn Fayre was held on Saturday 1st October and was a huge success.  We raised an impressive £323.63 for our 'Residents Fund', which goes towards entertainers and outings throughout the year.  We had various stalls selling Christmas goodies including doggy treat bags, Christmas cards, tree decorations and bottle bags; all of which were hand made by our residents. Also, we were kept entertained by 'Michael' who sings a mixture of Reggae music.

The Fairby Bake Off was the highlight of the event and was judged on both taste and looks which proved extremely difficult for the judges to decide on a winner.  However, the winner was, Lily, who received a Bluewater voucher for producing a fine Victoria Sponge cake.  Well done Lily and thank you everyone else who baked such lovely tasting cakes too.

Dining Room Renovation - We have modernised our dining room by replacing the carpet with Oak flooring. See our photo gallery for before and after pictures.

More events organised:-

Wednesday 12th October - Zoolab visited with their reptiles and other small animals. We had the chance to hold a Bearded Dragon, a Giant African Snail, a Millipede and a fluffy Rabbit.  Photos coming soon.

Monday 31st October - Halloween. We shall all be dressing up and having some spooky fun.

August / September 2016

Fairby Grange has again been awarded with a 5 Star Rating for Food Hygiene from the Food Standards Agency.  Well done to our cooks and staff for all their hard work in retaining this Award.  It is a great achievement that we can all be proud of.

The summer months have been most welcome to enable us to get out into the garden and enjoy the sunshine.

For the first time, we had a Reggae singer, Michael, entertain us, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We were so impressed with his performance, we have asked him to sing at our Autumn Fayre.

Mel has kept everyone busy preparing for the Autumn Fayre on 1st October 2016.  Its going to be an excellent day including a visit from the Ponies, Michael singing for us in the afternoon and stalls including:- Christmas Crafts, Tombola and other stalls.

The residents have been making Christmas crafts to sell such as cards, bottle holders and other Christmas goodies.  All proceeds will be going towards our Residents Fund.

We are holding a 'Fairby Bake Off',  where staff and relatives will battle it out, showing off their baking skills.  It will be judged by a panel of relatives.  Who will the lucky winner be??

See our October News for results.

July 2016

July has been a busy month at Fairby.  We went on our annual boat trip, where we leisurely floated down the Medway enjoying tea and cake along the way and taking in the beautiful sitesKent has to offer.

Mel organised her first Summer Fayre too, with a BBQ for residents and their relatives, a raffle, guess the weight of the cake and various other stalls.  All money raised goes towards our Resident Fund.  Well done Mel !!

We had a new singer, 'Miranda' entertain us all - we will certainly be asking Miranda back in the future.  We thoroughly enjoyed her songs.

Lastly, ponies came to visit us in our garden. They loved to be stroked and made a fuss of.

Coming up:

Monday 18th August, we have a pianist coming in to have a sing song.

Saturday 1st October, Mel is organising an Autumn Fayre.
