March 2018

March has been very chilly indeed and unfortunately our visit to Longfield Academy was cancelled as most schools in Kent were closed for nearly a week.  However, we have managed to get out and about to Millbrook garden centre for coffee and cake and to Knit & Knatter just over the road from us.

We have started a morning walking club, where some residents like to walk to the local Post Office to purchase their daily newspaper.

Another exciting new event was a visit from Dimples Children's Nursery, where 6 delightful children aged 3-4 years came into the home to play games, sing and dance and play musical instruments for us.  Everyones face lit up when they came in.  We will now be holding this event every month - one not to be missed!!  See our photo / video gallery for some lovely photos.

We have been making Easter decorations for our tree and some little treat boxes - just waiting for the Easter Bunny to  fill them with chocolate eggs now. We will be holding an Easter Egg Raffle over the Easter Weekend.  Fingers crossed.....

Six residents went to a Luncheon Club at the Church Hall, where we ate a beautifully prepared 3 course lunch.  The Club were celebrating their 10th anniversary and had a whopping 53 mouths to feed.

Still to come is our Dog Show at the end of the month.

February 2018

February has been an enjoyable month of special lunches for Burns Night and Chinese New Year.  Thanks to our chefs for putting on such a supper delicious lunch.

We celebrated Valentines Day with a special lunch, followed by an afternoon of entertainment by 'Miss Vintage'.  We had dance and sing along to her lovely music, whilst eating snacks and having  drinks.  Mel, our activities lady, made special bags and filled them with chocolate hearts and love heart sweets.  There was enough for everyone - even me!

We visited the Singing Club, which is held monthly at a local Community Hall.  This is a great way to meet new people, have a coffee and biscuit and most of all have a good old sing a long.

The days are getting brighter and we are starting to think about our garden and what we can plant this year.  We will certainly get our vegetable trough planted up again - our chef looks forward to cooking what we grow.

Happy New Year - January 2018

Happy New Year !

We have started the year off where we left it - having a fun time together.  This year for the first time, we asked the Members of our local 'Knit & Knatter' to join us for coffee and nibbles.  Knit & Knatter usually meet at the Hartley library every fortnight, but Karen, Fairby's manager, thought it would be nice to hold the meeting at Fairby.  Our snug room was busy with chatting, eating nibbles and knitting.  It was such a huge success.  Our residents have made some lovely friendships from Knit & Knatter.

Our Christmas party was a joyful event and we raised a whopping £310 for our residents fund, which goes some way towards entertainment, outings of our residents choice.  Thank you to everyone who gave so generously on the night.

We celebrated Elvis Presley's birthday on Monday 8th January with music by Storm King.  He sang Elvis songs and we all had a little dance and giggle.

Bertie, our minibus has now been sign written and looks fantastic.  Keep a look out for us !!
