March 2020

During March, before the dreaded Covid-19 reared its ugly head, we ventured out to our local pub, The White Swan. We had a lovely Fish & Chip lunch and some had a cheeky wine. During the lockdown of our home, we decided to pop out in our Minibus to Gravesend Promenade, we took a flask of tea and coffee and some little cakes. It was lovely just to get out and see a bit of normality.

We have been using WhatsApp so relatives can have a little chat with their loved ones too.

We are missing our monthly visit from the nursery children, however, they sent us a lovely card with some sweet pictures they had made. This brightened up our day immensely.

We have also been lucky to have some kind donations from a local pub - who dropped off a car boot full of tinned foods. A local lady dropped off some home made cakes and biscuits on Mothers day and some beautiful bunched daffodils were donated from our local church. Thank you to all those who think of others at this tricky time.

January / February 2020

At Fairby, we don’t let the cold weather stop us. We have been out for coffee and cake (of course), out to our local community centre for Memory Café, where we get to sing, chat and have a coffee and biscuit.

The nursery children have been in to see us and share all their Christmas day stories with us.

We celebrated Burns nights with a Scottish entertainer and a yummy Scottish 3 course meal. Thank you Bob, it was a real treat.

The residents have been making little bags full of chocolates for Valentines day, although I think a few chocolates have been eaten along the way.

Christmas 2019

Christmas was such a wonderful busy time for us all at Fairby. We were invited to our local luncheon club for a special Christmas lunch. We love going here once a month to meet up with our friends in the community to catch up on the goings on in Hartley.

Mel arranged for an Elvis singer to come and entertain us. He certainly did that!! We all joined in with the singing of his famous songs and never laughed so much watching Elvis dance to us all.

Christmas day was lovely, the sun was shining, the food was fantastic, great company and later in the afternoon we had a singer perform for us. A little song and dance helps the Christmas dinner goes down a treat.

What a lovely way to end the year and here’s to an exiting New Year.
