December 2016

December certainly was a busy month for us at Fairby. 

We were lucky to be invited again to a Christmas party held by the RAF Cadets in Dartford, where we were served sandwiches, cakes and coffee.  There was plenty of dancing and singing too and at the end of the day, we sang Christmas Carols, then handed a present, which was a lovely surprise.

Our Christmas party went really well - we were entertained by the production company, 'Tickled Pink', who sang and danced for us, whilst we ate mince pies and drank mulled wine. Residents and their relatives thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Next was a special party for one of our residents, who turned 95.  A regular singer; Jason put on a lovely show for us and we all ate birthday cake and other party foods.

Christmas Day had such a warm and lovely atmosphere and it was pleasure to see a few relatives join us for Christmas Day Lunch too.

We are looking forward to 2017 which I'm sure will be full of events and other exciting things to do.

November 2016

Christmas is nearly upon us and we are busy making Christmas decorations for the Home.  Mel and other members of staff spent an afternoon putting up the Christmas decorations whilst listening to Christmas music and munching on Mince pies.  Fairby is looking very festive indeed!!

During November we visited Polhill Garden Centre, where we had a good look round, purchased some Christmas cards and had a bite to eat.

We also had 'Music for Health' visit us, where we all exercised to music and had a great time. 

Our Christmas party is being held on Tuesday 13th December. We will be entertained by a production company, 'Tickled Pink' who will be putting on a festive show for us.  We will also be nibbling on buffet food and a cheeky sherry (or two).

October 2016

Our Autumn Fayre was held on Saturday 1st October and was a huge success.  We raised an impressive £323.63 for our 'Residents Fund', which goes towards entertainers and outings throughout the year.  We had various stalls selling Christmas goodies including doggy treat bags, Christmas cards, tree decorations and bottle bags; all of which were hand made by our residents. Also, we were kept entertained by 'Michael' who sings a mixture of Reggae music.  

The Fairby Bake Off was the highlight of the event and was judged on both taste and looks which proved extremely difficult for the judges to decide on a winner.  However, the winner was, Lily, who received a Bluewater voucher for producing a fine Victoria Sponge cake.  Well done Lily and thank you everyone else who baked such lovely tasting cakes too.   

Dining Room Renovation - We have modernised our dining room by replacing the carpet with Oak flooring. See our photo gallery for before and after pictures.

More events organised:-

Wednesday 12th October - Zoolab visited with their reptiles and other small animals. We had the chance to hold a Bearded Dragon, a Giant African Snail, a Millipede and a fluffy Rabbit.  Photos coming soon.

Monday 31st October - Halloween. We shall all be dressing up and having some spooky fun.
