May / June 2015

Now the weather is turning brighter and warmer the Gardening Club at Fairby has begun.  Some residents helped fill the vegetable planter with a whopping 8 bags of compost.

They have planted vegetables such as beetroot, spring onions, lettuce and radishes.  All we have to do now is to look after them.  We are lucky to have some dedicated green fingered residents who love gardening and tendering to these vegetables.  We are all hoping for a bumper stock of produce.  Our cooks are excited to reap the benefits of the residents hard work.

There's nothing quite like eating your own fresh produce straight from the garden!!

We have organised our favourite day trip - A Boat trip with a Picnic.  We have a minibus all set to take us to the River Medway where we will enjoy floating down the river.  Our cooks will prepare a lovely picnic for us to enjoy before heading back home.  A truly enjoyable day.  Fingers crossed the weather stays sunny and warm!!

Our yearly Garden Fete will be held in August this year, and preparations will begin to make it yet another exciting event in our calendar.  An added treat this year to be organised is 'Miss or Mr Fairby Grange'.  Who will the lucky lady or gentleman be??  Make sure you see the photos later on in the year.

April 2015

The clocks have jumped forward giving us more light in the evening and Easter is now upon us.

Our residents have decorated our reception area with Easter Bonnets, flowers and decorated eggs for our Easter Tree. Take a look at the photos on our Gallery page.

We had plenty of Easter Eggs donated by residents and their relatives for our Raffle which took place on Thursday 2nd April.  The large 1KG Lindt Chocolate Bunny went to Debbie - lucky girl!  We raised an eggsellent £107.00 which will go towards our Residents' Fund.

We are hoping the weather will continue to improve so that we can get out and about in the garden to help keep it looking beautiful.

For St.George's Day, we celebrated in style.  The dining room was decorated with St George's day bunting and our cook Bob treated us to a delicious 3 course meal of Prawn Cocktail, Bob's special Shepherds Pie and and finishing off with a traditional English Dessert - Eaton Mess.  Of course, a cheeky glass of wine was enjoyed by all!

Some of  our residents (14 to be precise) spent a morning at Bluewater Shopping Centre.  We took over a portion of the Restaurant in John Lewis and had coffee and cakes.  Many thanks to the John Lewis team for making us very welcome and putting up with our chatter and giggles!!

Valentines Day 2015

Our residents enjoyed a superb Valentines 3 course lunch consisting of Prawn Cocktail, Meatballs and mashed potatoes, Strawberry Meringue Tart and finished off with Bob's heart shaped shortbread biscuits dipped in chocolate, and of course, a tipple of wine.

The table was set with sequin hearts, tuxedo napkins and a chocolate rose for each resident.  We were serenaded by Michael Lack; a local Saxophonist; and of course, there's always room for a bit of dancing.

Pancake Day 2015

Pancake day wouldn't be pancake day without a delicious pancake with lemon and sugar.

Janet, our activities organiser made some pancakes for us all to flip.  On the whole the majority stayed in the pan and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Visits

Some residents attended Millbrook Garden Centre for coffee and cakes and a look around the nursery.
